Councillor for East Central ward on Coedffranc Town Council Learn more
by franklittle on 16 November, 2011
“Tell us once” is a scheme launched this week on behalf of the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP), and operated by local authorities. Neath Port Talbot and Swansea unitary authorities are collaborating on the local roll-out. This follows successful pilot trials in several English councils – more details here.
The aim is that, at a stressful and busy time, those left behind need tell the Government only once about a death. This information will be passed on their behalf to other relevant Departments. In addition to DWP and Neath Port Talbot county borough, such interested parties as HM Revenue & Customs, HM Treasury, Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and Dept for Transport (DfT) and the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) will be informed, among others.
The contact point for a death in Neath Port Talbot is www.npt.gov.uk/tellusonce, or telephone 01639 686868.
